VA benefits are notoriously complex, and the application process for Aid & Attendance trips up many families. Two kinds of help are free: your county Veterans Services Office, which assists local veterans and families with benefit claims at no charge, and accredited veterans service organizations. Do not assume you earn too much to qualify. Aid & Attendance has income and asset rules, but unreimbursed medical and care costs are deducted from income in the calculation, so many families who assume they are over the limit actually qualify. It is worth checking.
